Once you have cleaned and dried your vehicle and rims from dirt and contaminants, you can enhance your car with paint sealant or paint protection for a long-lasting shine. Finishing with waxes and detailers is not a must in car care, but we recommend combining car care with a proper finishing process.

Finishing with Detailer, Spray Wax, or Wax and Sealant

A detailer offers a quick and easy way to refresh the vehicle's paint. It can be applied either to the wet paint after hand washing or to the dry paint after drying. Simply spray the detailer on and wipe it off with a microfiber cloth, leaving a glossy and "detailed" finish.

There are various types of detailer products, each with specific purposes:

• Gloss Enhancer Detailer: Applied directly to clean paint or over a wax/sealant layer to achieve a shiny effect. It also helps protect the underlying layers.

• Drying Aid Detailer: Applied to wet paint to help water bead and run off more easily during rinsing, reducing the risk of scratches while drying.

• Clay Lubricant: Used during claying (surface preparation) before polishing.

In addition to detailers, spray waxes are available. A spray wax is designed to protect your car’s paint with a simple spray application. But what’s the difference between a quick detailer and a spray wax?

As mentioned earlier, a quick detailer adds gloss and enables quick cleaning. In contrast, a spray wax provides a light protective layer on the paint or refreshes existing sealant while also adding shine.

Another finishing option is traditional wax and paint sealant. Like quick detailers, waxes seal the paint, offering protection and a shiny appearance.

To maximize the effectiveness of wax and paint protection, you should clean the paint thoroughly beforehand. Therefore, applying sealant after washing and rim cleaning is ideal. Compared to waxes, paint sealants offer better water-repellent properties and longer durability but may not deliver as much shine. Additionally, specialized sealants can be applied to windows and rims—something waxes are not well-suited for.
